“Hogueras de San Juan” in Alicante
In the middle of the summer solstice, the Light-filled city of Alicante, undergoes a burst of art, music, gunpowder, beauty, light and popular tradition. Around sculptured monuments of wood and cardboard filled with colour, “ninots” (the figures) and festive allusions to fashions and trends, the “barracas” and “racós” flood the streets for relaxation and enjoyment of the people from the city and visitors until all is devoured by fire on the magical night of “la Cremà”. The city overflows with sensations, aromas and colour, with flower offerings, beauty parades, bands of music, noisy “mascletàs“ and a week with firework display competition.
Designated a festival of International Tourist Interest.

Las fiestas de San Juan Bautista patrón de Cox se desarrollan durante la noche del solsticio de verano 24 de Junio. Tradicionalmente se viene construyendo una falla que se planta en una plaza de la localidad y esta noche mágica se quema la falla, tradición basada el las hogueras de Alicante.
