The whitish clayey earth of the Ventos and the Castellar Sierras has traditionally been the source of Agost´s prosperity - the production of ceramics. Bricks, domestic utensils and typical ivory white botijos (earthenware jugs) have been the main industry of this locality. Today, in addition to the traditional pottery and ceramics, the main source of wealth is the manufacturing of bricks of which there are nine factories in the town. The land has also been very good for the growing of the vines that are present throughout the entire region. Agost is included in the area, has been awarded the title of Denominación de Origen (guarantee of origin) for bagged grapes, and grows the Aledo and Italia varieties.
Gastronomy:
Gazpacho (cold tomato soup), rice with rabbit, Coca de sardina and Coca con seba (flat sponge cake).

Baroque Church of San Pedro and ruined Muslim Castle.

Festivals and Events:
Moors and Christians pageants in honour of St Peter are held at the end of June. The Day of the Vella takes place on the 9th of March. The Rey Moro (Moorish King) fiesta is held from the 24-31 of December.
Geography:
L´Alacantí. Located on the slopes of the Maigmó Sierra and to the south of the Ventós and Castellar Sierras.

Landstrasse Agost-San Vicente, Busse, Zug Alicante-Madrid.
Situation:
Located to the south of Ventos and Castellar, and is best reached via Novelda. Situated 18 km from Alicante and 60 km from Benidorm.
Tour of the town:
The ´El Rugló´ recreational area is located here. Visits can be made to the Sierra del Ventos (905 m), which is reached via the Barranc del Arc.
