Almudaina, in the lea of a hill close to the Sierra de Almudaina and surrounded by almond and cherry trees, is a typical town of the Alicante mountain area.
The name of the locality reveals its Moorish origins as it means Almudin of the grain stores. In the centre of the old town there is an Islamic tower, which may have been one of these grain stores.
Almudaina is a small peaceful town, its main economic activity being farming, especially the cultivation of cherries.

Festivals and Events:
Patron saint feast day celebrations in honour of St Bartholomew, the Blessed Christ and the Madonna of the Rosary are held from the 23-26 of August. On the second day there is a procession to the Hermitage. The feast of St Canuto is held on the 19th of January.
