Benferri is the first village in Alicante when approaching from Murcia on the motorway. Originally the village was a small tower that Jaime Rocamora inherited from Orihuela; 29 families lived in this tower and it became a parish in 1622 under the protection of the Rocamora family. Its shield - a blackberry branch with a golden tower - symbolizes the most important milestones of the small village whose main economic activities are construction work and agriculture.
Gastronomy:
Cocido con pelotas (stew with minced meat wrapped in cabbage leaves), rice with rabbit.
Monuments:
Church of St Jerome, medieval tower and fountain in the park.
Festivals and Events:
Patron saint feast day celebrations are held on the 30th of September in honour of St Jerome, with open-air celebrations and a procession. On the 16th of August, fiestas are held in honour of the Madonna of the Rosary.
Situation:
There is an exit from the Murcia motorway, and it is located nearby. Situated 54 km from Alicante and 98 km from Benidorm.
