Beniardá is a small village located between a reservoir of the same name and the Xortá and Serrella sierras. Although Beniardá is situated in the costal region it is a typical village of the Alicante mountain area with an architecture that provides glimpses of its Moorish past. Islamic foundations have been found in a house in the calle de la Torre. The village´s economy is typically agricultural with dry land crops and fruits being grown.
Gastronomy:
Olleta de blat (rice mixed with meat and vegetables), Pilotes de Dacsa(minced meat), Minxos (pizza-like base with fish and vegetables), and rabbit.
Art:
Olive oil ´en la partida de la mezquita´.
Monuments:
Sixteenth-century church, Font Vella and Font de la Mesquita.
Festivals and Events:
Patron saint feast day celebrations are held in the first weekend of August in honour of the Mare de Deu dels Dolors. On St John´s feast day, young people celebrate with fiestas.
Situation:
The village is reached via the narrow road that links Callosa d´En Sarià to Alcoy. Located 78 km from Alicante.
Tour of the town:
Chapel of San Francesc and Pujar Caves. The road that surrounds the Beniarrés reservoir can be taken to visit the village of Guadalest.
Sports:
Fishing in the river and reservoir.
