The name of the village originates from a country estate belonging to the Rocamora family who also owned the tower and village of Benferri and various villages in other regions - Agost and Novelda. The village gained its independence from Orihuela in 1565. Granja de Rocamora, Granja as it is called in the area, is located to the north of the region, next to the road that links the town to the rest of the province which passes through Crevillente, and also next to the Murcia motorway. The 2,000 inhabitants are mainly involved in agriculture and sell their produce in markets throughout the province. The district is not extensive and smallholders own the land.
Gastronomy:
Cocido con pelotas (stew with minced meat wrapped in cabbage leaves), Arroz con costra (rice with an egg crust), arroz a la granjera (farmer´s rice).

Work with palm-leaves.
Monuments:
Twelfth-century Moorish tower and 12th-century church of St Pedro.

Festivals and Events:
From the 1-3 of May, Moors and Christians parade through flower-bedecked streets in honour of the Holy Cross. The feast day of Saint Peter the Apostle is celebrated in June.
Situation:
This locality is easily reached from the rest of the province as it has access to the A-7 and the N-340, which is located less than two kilometres away. A local road connects it with Orihuela via Cox and Callosa de Segura. Situated 48 km from Alicante and 89 km from Benidorm.
