We start our stage today in the northern limit of the province. This natural border is demarcated by the Molinell River, natural drainage of the Arroz de Pego land and the Pego-Oliva Marjal Natural Park, recommended visit for this afternoon after the journey.
To find today's embarkation point, we reach the end of the road from Les Marines-Racons to Dénia, specifically to the beach of Molinell (Oliva).
Fine sandy beaches such as Molinell and Les Deveses (Santa Ana area) will be our mainstay during our first part of the journey until we reach the first jetties, before Punta de L'Almadrava. Off the coast of Els Poblets the landscape changes and begins to offer us a section formed by boulders, just before the mouth of the river Girona.
In this municipality, and in the urban beach of L'Almadrava, we find the Piedra del Salvador, whose legend, together with popular tradition, continues to keep it as a meeting and celebration point for local and private festive events. A few meters from the coast we find the archaeological site of L'Almadrava de Els Poblets, a factory for making amphora and ceramics for common use and one of the few sites in the area which are open to the public.
Once we pass the mouth of the river Girona, and after a few paddles, we recommend a quick disembarkation to go 150 metres and visit the Torre de l'Almadrava, an old watchtower from the 16th century, which belongs to the 'Castillos de la Frontera del Miedo' from the route of the 100 Castles of the Costa Blanca.
We resume our paleo course to Dénia, accompanied by the impressive Sierra de Segària on our right, and the imposing Montgó on the horizon.
Punta de l'Estanyó and Punta dels Molins await us and among them we find the mouth of the Barranc de l'Alberca.
Fine sandy beaches, such as Les Bovetes and Les Marines, deserted in the low season and with an influx of tourists in summer, will take us to Dénia, our proposed end of the stage for today.
A good point to disembark would be after the port of Dénia, on Marineta Cassiana beach, the last sandy beach of this stage and where it will be very easy to land and hang up our paddles.
